Bucharest is, as all other capitals in the world, the cultural/happening center of the country. There are already events that have tradition, and for every season, its citizens know what to expect in that matter. The Night of the Museums (May), Street Delivery and White Night of the Cultural Institutes (June), or Bucharest White Night (September) got to their third or fourth edition. Besides that, there are many concerts, theatre, film and circus festivals. You only have to check out the list.

Public transportation in Bucharest is totally opposite to the one in Hamburg, Barcelona or Paris. Here, the bus, tram or trolley-bus comes whenever they got the chance, not having a steady program. Also, it is very important to know that the RATB works from 5 A.M. to 11 P.M. No night travel. You pay for one ticket 1,3 lei (0,30 euro cents); one week – 17 lei, 15 days – 25 lei, one month - 50 lei (12,20 euros). These are available on all transport lines.
The City Council wants to offer tourists a bus line just for them, but this is only a project at the moment.
Before going on a bus/tram/troley you have to asure that your bag is safe, put it in front of you, that you can tolerate crowd and noisy beggars. Otherwise, try walking or rent a bike from the only this kind of center in town – Cicloteque (Blv. Mihail Kogălniceanu 36-46, Law Faculty, Subway: Eroilor, Bus: 122, 137, 268, 336, 601, Trolley-bus: 61, 69, 90, 91; Monday to Friday 08.00-22.00, S-S: 10.00-22.00). Prepare yourself – in Bucharest, most of the bike tracks are to be found in the central area.
The subway is the easiest way to travel through Bucharest. Although you have to wait sometimes even 10 minutes until a train comes, is homeless-free and rather quick than other transportation. Price: 2,2 lei/2 tickets; one month - 25 lei (6,10 euros).
Drivers in Bucharest are often angry and impulsive. Wait for the green light so you’ll have 90% chances to get safe on the other side.
The cabs have lowered their costs lately. 1,5 lei is the average money you have to pay for 1 km.
